A cooperation agreement was signed between the Eurasian Association of Expert Organizations for Conformity Assessment and Certification and the Association of Railway Equipment Manufacturers. The agreement was signed by the President of Union of Industries of Railway Equipment Valentin Aleksandrovich Gapanovich and the Vice-Chairman of the Russian branch of ECA Vladimir Alekseevich Kachalov.

The parties are joining forces to solve priority tasks aimed at promoting Russian transport engineering products to foreign markets of BRICS countries, as well as increasing trust in Russian manufacturers. The parties will cooperate to develop unified approaches and requirements for the results of conformity assessment and certification according to international and national standards; ensure mutual recognition of certificates; develop joint proposals for standardization within the framework of work in the working bodies of the International Organization for Standardization ISO.

The Association of Railway Equipment Manufacturers (AREM) was founded in June 2007 in Russia by Russian Railways, VKM Management Company, Transmashholding, and Tractor Plants Concern Corporate Management Company. The members of the AREM include manufacturers of railway equipment and components, carriers, infrastructure owners, rolling stock operators, repair organizations, engineering and research centers, and educational institutions. The Association’s members account for about 90% of all railway products manufactured in Russia.

The Eurasian Association for Conformity Assessment and Certification was created to guarantee internationally recognized certification to all customers during the period of sanctions risks. The agreement with the Association was signed by leading and internationally recognized certification bodies with more than 20,000 valid certificates from China, Russia, India, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and other countries.
